Jamie Perez Herrera has been living and working in New York City as an interior designer for over 12 years.
She attended Parson’s School of Constructed Environments where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Interior Design and studied at the University of the Arts in London. Before founding her own design studio, she gained experience with notable design firms such as Elizabeth Roberts Architects, where she worked as a Senior Designer, and sought-after interior designers like Ellen Hamilton of Hamilton Design Associates, where she served as a Project Manager.
Her work has encompassed a wide range of responsibilities, involving meticulous attention to detail in various design aspects such as fabric, lighting and furniture sourcing, palette curation, surface selection, and interior finishes. She has also successfully undertaken significant endeavors like brownstone and historical home renovations, floor plans, and overall house design, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of both the finer intricacies and broader aspects of her work. Throughout it all, she has been hands-on with client management and incredibly detail-oriented, a strength that has earned her significant notable and celebrity clients.
Jamie seeks to find moments of tension and surprise via her designs, encouraging unexpected juxtapositions that are as thoughtful as they are joy-inducing. She is inspired by strong, character-filled vintage pieces and will always search for items with history before seeking out something new. Most importantly, she is not interested in replicating other interior designers’ aesthetics or hopping on design trends — she is passionate about helping people articulate their own personal style. Throughout an entire project, she guides clients to the best home solutions for their particular space and taste level.
The process and outcomes of anything Jamie works on are defined by the unique needs of the client and the scale of their project. She’s adaptable and flexible to a client’s needs and is able to bring a clear vision within those parameters. She takes her time to get to know the individuals she is working with, encouraging them to enjoy the process of finding exactly the right items no matter how long it takes.
Over the years, she has oscillated between architecture and interiors, and the creation of her own studio in 2022 allows her to live in both spaces, while also providing a richer, more holistic service for her clients.
Born and raised in Washington DC, Jamie now resides in New York City with her husband, Daniel, and their dog, Dusty.
